I've had these posted on min.us, but reloaded and rearranged things a bit today to freshen things up. Here are a few of the 12" singles I have in the collection...

A few A&M items in both galleries.

Thanks for sharing! A few things we have in common! But Chic and the Commodorers???? Dude! :hmmm:

Yep, both of those. They were trendsetters back then, and are in high demand even today. (If we'd had the foresight to buy a truckload of copies of these rarities, we could have been long since retired by now.) I don't think there have been bands in the past 20 years that can come close to what they've recorded. And Chic was a very successful launching point for Nile Rodgers' career, which is still going strong.

We grew up with all these bands, and R&B/funk/dance music in general on local radio. That's the kind of environment we had in this city back then. Back when Prince could send out something called Yyad Ssirrom & The Mystery Band (with special guest Vanity 6) to the small but highly popular local funk/R&B club called 20 Grand and do a warmup for his full-blown tour in support of 1999. (Reverse that name and you can guess why I was all  when I found how who the "mystery band" really was!)

Lots of good times in those grooves, and plenty of good music too.

Great gallery, thx for sharing. Still searching for that "Getaway" (in the sub $100 range). :)

Yeah, Jeff has already gotten his hooks into my copy when I leave this earth. :D Maybe he can will it to you when he is done on this earth?

Knowing where I got it from, I bet I paid only a couple of dollars for it. Sam's Jams used to get their hands on some of these promos and blow them out for $1.95 or $2.95...or 4/$1 if they had too many. Sick. Had I known these would ever go up in value...

To hear that Jeff is in need of anything ranks right up there with the best of whatever Ripley's has got to offer. That man has holy grails galore.

Between Jeff and Phillip (who has some wicked-rare promos), they certainly outclass MY meager collection!
