Whelp, I smiled...and the song began: when I saw this news this morning, it just brought a joy to my face and I now have that lovely horn of Mr Alpert playing in the background as I type. I am a twenty-year student aid administrator. Yes, I love the music that he does and that which his spouse has done, and does lately with him). but eve more I deeply respect and love this man's generosity of spirit - call it HIS "human nature" - and his commitment to higher education. If anyone on this list communicates with him personally, please pass this along -i do want him to know this. I did try and post on the official FB page but not sure if it went through.
Why in hell this guy is not a Kennedy center honoree boggles my mind. It's an absolute crime. Some of the recipients of that award have no where near the level of commitment to music education and music as public diplomacy that this man does. And he backs it up with significant philanthropy.
