Bill Earl passed yesterday at age 92. He was an assistant to Herb and a special part of the A&M family. I got to meet him in 1988, on the Symphony Tour in Canandaigua, NY. He was a real gentleman and had lots of stories to tell. Condolences to his family & friends.

RIP, Bill "Rotation" Earl.

In tribute, here is the "Rotation" video taken straight from my LaserDisc of THE VERY BEST OF HERB ALPERT.

Yes, he appears on the Rise video too, and I believe he can be seen in one of the TV specials from the 60's too. It appears that he and Herb must have been close, recalling the "thank you" note on the "You Smile" LP.

- greetings from the cold north -

...and wasn't he mentioned on the back of Just You and Me as "First Aid"? I met Bill at the Julius Wechter tribute in Glendale. What a really nice guy who spent time chatting to me!
