I Love Brenda Russell's music this one is one of her best my favorites are Piano in the Dark. Le Restaurant. And the Title track Get Here which reminds me of the times I travelled to visit friends over the years. To borrow a line from the title track " Get this if you can".

I'm a big Brenda Russell fan(her first album for Horizon/A&M is an instant classic) and GET HERE is a very good album. I know that she had a big hit 30 years ago with "Piano In The Dark, but my favorite cut on the album is "Le Restaurant" which she did with David Sanborn, who is also one of my favorite musicians. The title track "Get Here" was an even bigger hit for Oleta Adams a few years later, and everybody forgot about Brenda's version which was a minor hit for her after "Piano" blew up, but my favorite was definitely Brenda's version. She says that Herb Alpert called her up, asking her to write songs for his WILD ROMANCE album, and while making the record, Herb came up to with some papers and said "sign these." She signed, then he said "congradulations, you're on A&M now", and thus began her association with A&M(for the second time) and that's what led to GET HERE.

The moral of the story: I guess that's the way how Herb does things, or it's good to have friends in high places! Also, she sang background for another A&M act (which Herb also discovered personally) which was Gino Vannelli. She did background vocals on his GIST OF THE GEMINI album, and you can hear her voice prominently on the cut "Summers Of My Life" in the backup vocals.
