Thanks, again!
Wow, I've never seen this one, either.
My God, what a Loss to Humanity and the Music world!

I wish they would release this on home video, the whole evening. Who would have the rights to this? The White House? Richard?

I would be interested to learn if Richard Carpenter recorded the audio for this event.
Otherwise, my understanding is that the entire event was not recorded (video and audio) in its entirety,
in sequence; as differing news organizations (cameras/audio) recorded bits and pieces uncorrelated to
each other.

Much like the Hollywood Bowl Induction ceremony of more recent times,
I am astounded that so much is left un-recorded for posterity---done professionally.

Unless I am mistaken, the Mook gives the songs performed at the White House,
the Youtube clip is missing the song "Sometimes".

Knowing now how fanatic the President was about taping things for historical reference, I often wonder if there are separate audio tapes buried in the archives of the Presidential Library of various State Dinners held during those years.

From what I've seen on the DVD to "Close To You", it looks like the White House video was shot on Super 8mm film, possible as someone's home movie (maybe Richard or Karen had wanted a copy for their collection just to show their friends).
