I thought for years that "Flowers On The Wall" would have been a great BAJA song and who went and did it?

"Eight Days A Week" with an "All My Loving" type arrangement. Maybe a bump and grind ending.

...or take the arrangement of "Gotta a Lotta Livin' To Do" and instead insert "This Could Be The Start of Something Big." Might work.

A little off-topic, but I just found out that the lady singing the "la-la's" in that tune ("The Disadvantages Of You" by The Brass Ring) is Juli Christman. She was a jingle singer back in the '60s and '70s and recorded the song "Hold Me" by the Keith Textor Singers that we identified here for someone looking for the obscure record.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Los Pekenikes yet! For those unfamiliar with their catalogue, they were one of Spain's leading instrumental combos back in the 60s and many of their compositions share a sonic similarity with the TJB. "Hilo De Seda" in particular could have been a TJB tune back in the day: keening trumpet harmonies, prominent Fender bass and some very Nick Ceroli-like drumming...

Mexicat--that's very cool! I never heard of this group before. Thanks for posting this. The TJB similarities are obvious.

I'm waiting for someone to suggest "Spanish Harlem"... Sonny Charles & The Checkmates did do that legendary Phil Spector & Jerry Leib-written number... With a very Herb-like trumpet solo, & all...!!!! Think of it!!!!:tiphat:

Herb did "Spanish Harlem" on VOLUME 2.

I was hoping Dave was being sarcastic!

Yeh, I was... Quite honestly as good (& sincerely authentic) as Herb's version on ...Volume 2 was, I think Sonny Charles/Checkmates "Spanish Harlem" trumpet had a bit more gusto to it...

It just makes me hope that theirs happened to be "an uncredited Herb cameo"...
