HI Sakura,
I was just wondering,
have you ever been to Tokyo Disney Sea?
I hear it is fantasic.
And I bet if Karen were still alive, she would have visited as she loved all things Disney!
Mark

Hi Mark,

Yes, I went to Tokyo Disney Sea last year. I hope Karen is looking down and enjoying Mickey at drums.

Many Japanese love Disney Sea. I could go to more attractions than I expected because it was partly rainy weekday. We enjoyed Indiana Jones' Adventure. My son enjoyed reading 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea book but he was disappointed with 20,000 leagues attraction. We enjoyed Winnie the Pooh attraction at Disneyland more. My daughter liked Mermaid Lagoon Theater very much. I have searched for Doug's CD, but I coundn't find it. I love Tokyo Disneyland rather than Disney Sea. I have been to Disneyland several times. I was lucky to enjoy Dumbo as the same color as Karen's at my first visit to Disneyland. I may look for Karen's image at Disneyland. I think Tokyo Disneyland was opened a few months after Karen passed away.

Japanese DVD re-release
"Yesterday Once More" will be released on 23rd of this month again. (2,400Yen now at amazon.Jp)
http://www.hmv.co.jp/product/detail.asp?sku=1858971
Amazon.Jp says it is Region 2. Region code is not on HMV Japan site.
According to HMV, this contains "I Need To Be In Love" video.
(Japanese DVD-Gold was released last year as Region Free but it doesn't contain "I Need To Be In Love".)

"Ed Sullivan Show" box set will be released again in Japan. 19,950Yen before, this limited box 9,450Yen.
Songlist of Ed Sullivan Show Vol.1 on the web that I found didn't contain Carpenters(3,990Yen), but this time Vol.1 has "Close To You"(1,995Yen). And it is 10% off(1,796Yen) at Amazon.Jp. now. Vol.5 contains "We've Only Just Begun".

According to Yuka's message, "Close To You - Remembering The Carpenters" is available in Japan (5,800Yen). But it will be released on August the 25th (2,800Yen)

(Barry Manilow's "Ultimate Manilow" DVD will be released in Japan on July 21st(7,875Yen) I recieved it from the U.S. last year [2,086Yen. I didn't have to pay shipping.] We Japanese fans are happy for Carpenters limited releases.)

Agnetha Fältskog's ‘My Colouring Book’ will be released in Japan. As you know, she sings "The End of the World".

Is "Goodnight" in Linda Ronstadt's "Dedicated to the One I Love" Beatles' song? The album sells well at amazon.Jp now.

I read that Natalie Cole is in Japan now. She sang along with her father (tape or video) last week.
Has Richard performed with Karen in video in the U.S.?

Sakura
....hearing "Yesterday Once More" (piano version) on TV CM now....

Richard and karen haven't reunited for a video. In a way it would be fascinating, in a way difficult to watch. I've seen Natalie perform twice in Portland. Her UNFORGETTABLE number she does with the Nat King video playing along is very emotional. It's the stuff tears are made of. While I would like to see anything CarpenterS...I dunno 'bout that.

Forecast, 90 ding dang degrees in the City today. That is an inferno for The Pacific N.W.

This must be a new release cause it is also listed at CD Japan
http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/detailview.html?KEY=UIBA-9013

Release Date 6/23/2004

Isn't this the first time I Need To Be In Love Video has been officially released. This is where we see Karen & Richard on the plane right? Karen looks at this man with dreamy eyes. I saw little of this I think on Ran's old site. not sure. So this is only Region 2??? Then I can't play that. Bummer. I want that video too.

No, "Carpenters - Twenty Two Hits of The Carpenters Special Edition [Initial pressing only limited edition]"(Region 2) (UICY-9245) has "I Need To Be In Love" video. Gold plated CD/DVD set.
In Japan the limited edition is almost sold out. But you can order at oversea sites, such as JPopHelp.com or CD Universe.com.
I don't have another "Yesterday Once More" DVD, but I think Japanese "Gold" or "Yesterday Once More" DVD except "Sound + Vision" has "I Need To Be In Love".
Yes, this is where we see Karen & Richard on the plane, we can see young Mary, too.

At CDJapan.com "Live at Budokan 1974" VHS was backorder last month, but they say 'Usually ships in:
3-4 weeks' now.

If my memory is correct, Richard performed with Karen in video (First TV show) at my concert.
On Christmas Eve of 1996 "Top of the World" was on air in Japan.

You can see a little bit from First TV show on the net.

Yes, Richard has performed with Karen on video in the U.S. -- back about 9 or 10 years ago, he performed "From This Moment On" at a concert, where he accompanied the video image of Karen (as seen on the INTERPRETATIONS video). I wasn't there, but from accounts I've heard, the video was cropped so that Karen was all you saw (she had been sitting behind Richard on the piano bench), and since he had been in the original video, when Karen looked his way, it appeared as if they were actually interacting onstage. People said it was pretty eerie.

Thank you, Sakura!
One day I'll get to Tokyo DL. I have been to Tokyo in 1979 for a two week tour, I loved it!
