When will it open on the site this year?
  2. Harry Administrator

We're looking into whether or not to open the Holiday Forum this year. There was little action in it last year. If there's solid support for it, express your desires here!

I would be certainly interested in a Holiday Forum...

Very little activity in such, yes, but with the recent Holiday Topics we have posted so far, I would sure welcome a Brief Discussion Board where we can discuss Holiday Music-related Subjects...

I don't really see the need for it...I think it only had a few posts last year. The various A&M albums can be discussed just as well in their regular forums, so after due consideration I voted for giving it a rest.

The only reason I can see to revive the Forum is also the biggest reason against it: the resurrection of old posts.

It might be nice to see what old posts had to say, but it's also disconcerting to find what you think is a "new" thread, only to find out that, not only is it from years ago, but that you've already posted in it!

    I'll remain neutral for now.

I like the Holiday Forum. It offers a refreshing addition each year to the Corner. I liked changing the color scheme of the site to green when I visited during Christmastime in years past. I support the appearance of that forum this year.

I am Seashorepiano, and I approve this message.

You can have the green forum all year if you want...it's changable in your profile. (That's my preferred color scheme too.)

My favorite Christmas feature of the Corner is the snowflakes that float over the home page. :) Which aren't turned-on yet...but right now we have enough of the REAL ones floating around to satisfy me.
  9. Rudy Spinning The Wheels Of Steel

The snowflakes are coded into our home page, and activate automatically for the month of December. (If month = 12, in other words.) I don't know if it works in Firefox or not, though--it works in IE, but I haven't used it in a few years.

The green theme is "Whipped Cream" here in the forum.

Rereading this sentence, I realize now that seashore is aware of the changable color scheme. Sorry for the confusion, I was thinking that he thought it was a seasonal thing.

Well, I'm back and I was looking forward to the holiday forum..and now there is none. I say we bring it back!

I voted yes only because I love the Carpenters so much and Christmas and the Carpenters go together, it could bring new fans into the fold and generate new interest. I've heard the Carpenters alot this year on a local radio station that is playing Christmas songs all day long now up till Christmas day and they play the Carpenters all the time several diff cuts, I always think this could generate new sales for Carpenters music as someone who hears the song on the radio might want to find out more about the group possibly even seek out forums such as thing for holiday threads.

But I can understand if little interest was given to it last year than it's really up to everyone here, I won't be crushed without it, just something I have been use to seeing here each year. It would be a shame to let it go and never bring it back there were so many good topics and I'm sure a wealth of good information.

Well, what IS A&M Corner without The Holiday Forum?! It's Herb Alpert without his Tijuana Brass Christmas Album...! It's A&M without iSomething Festive!...!

    Yes, Bring it Back!!

Eh. Out of over 1200 members here, only 9 have even bothered to cast votes, so it's clear the interest just isn't there. If you want to start a holiday-related topic, do it in the appropriate forum and then if Rudy decides to deploy the H forum, the topic(s) are easily moved there.

As the Christmas season apparently commences at midnight on the day after Thanksgiving, and customers will be lining at the doors to many department stores at 4 AM or earlier, I wish to join that milieu by casting a vote in support of opening this year's holiday forum. Please consider, O Moderators.
  18. Mike Blakesley Administrator

While I can't speak for the Rudymeister, I'd say there's not a great need for it. if Richard's ever-delayed Christmas album would have come out this year, or if the forum in general were busy, it'd be a go...but as things are right now, it being so quiet anyway with no big release news on the horizon....I'd say it's not likely.
  19. Dave Active Member

And in which case, I'd say The CARPENTERS FORUM, which already has a "Ready for the Christmas Songs" thread, as well as futthur commentary on Richard Carpenter's not-yet-released/to hopefully BE released/never gonna be, etc. Christmas Album, that we've either Demonstrated a Need for our Holiday Forum, or perhaps, admittedly that Christmas can be discussed ANYWHERE in the Forum, 'least with whatever "featured Artist/s" is/are at Issue in their Proper/Specialized or General Forum(s), or in F.A.O. in the instance of things of the Off-Topic nature... 'Specially with the "Holiday Traffic" here not particularily heavy...

--Hence, with the Poll in this Thread at a Not-So-High Number, then it's easy to see what fate shall befall...
