James Beck "Jim" Gordon was born on 14th July 1945. He was the drummer on some of the tracks on the Carpenters albums, "Horizon" and "A Kind of Hush" also the song "Solitaire".

Looking back at his career I was interested to find he was an understudy of Hal Blaine and eventually became an important member of the Wrecking Crew. For a while he was the drummer in the group, Derek & The Dominoes. He also backed the Everly Brothers as well as becoming a popular session drummer. He recorded on tracks with The Byrds as well as The Beach Boys, Dave Mason, Harry Nilsson, Steely Dan and Alice Cooper. He was part of the backing band that toured with Delaney & Bonnie which also included Eric Clapton. He worked for a while on tour with Joe Cocker and was in the House band working with George Harrison on his first solo album.

Unfortunately life took a turn for the worse as he developed schizophrenia and ended up killing his mother. He was sentenced 16 years to life in prison. As of 2015 he was in the California Medical Facility in Vacaville, California.
