There's a new book about jazz producers called Pressed for All Time: Producing the Great Jazz Albums From Louis Armstrong and Billie Holiday to Miles Davis and Diana Krall (The University of North Carolina Press), written by Michael Jarrett. The JazzTimes site published an excerpt about A&M/Horizon's creative director John Snyder, about his approach to producing some classic jazz albums, plus how he got fired by Jerry Moss (Tommy LiPuma would take over Horizon and do more contemporary albums).
