Very interesting, AM Matt !
In the Carpenters' version, there is a 'noise', a sound, which I have yet to identify,
which---when it occurs--destroys the song for me....
otherwise, I have gotten used to the song on Passage.
It is my least played on Passage. But, I do not dislike it.

Is it the prolonged 'airplane crash' that plays out underneath the song towards the end? That completely ruins an already awful song for me, this is a song I can honestly say I've never listened to more than half a dozen times.

Stephen,
about five-seconds in to the song, there is a loud "click/thump" noise.
It has bugged me forever !
I can live with the rest of the song (love the sax, for instance).
But, following "Two Sides" , as it does on Passage, not very good song sequencing--to my ears.
It's hardly a favorite, but, it is so very different for the duo !
Then again, there it is on Space Encounters 1978 TV Special--go figure !

I can't make out what it is but it could be anything as there's all sorts of percussion in that track. The wobbleboard sound is also really annoying!
