From Sunshine Pop & Psych Pop & Rock from the 60s
"The Merchants Of Dream - Strange Night Voyage - Another of those marvelous concept 'pop operettas' that abounded in the wake of Jimmy Webb's beautiful balloon that landed in the yard that went on & on. This Strange Night Voyage is a big fat psych sunshine tribute to Peter Pan with nods to Alice In Wonderland and The Wizard Of Oz. The conception of this album is co-credited to George "Shadow" Morton. Fans of Wichita Fall will definitely want to take this trip...and vice-versa."

Morton is known for his work with the Shangri-Las ("Leader of the Pack") in the early '60s. He's in the credits of Lead Singer Mary Weiss' recent solo album.

To dream The Merchants of Dream
To enjoy the un-enjoyable disc
To wonder what this record's about
To find that there's nothing I missed
To listen to songs that are dreary... Read More
To love what made my head feel so numb
To hear with ears that got so weary
From playing something so naive and so dumb

This is my regret
A record I bought
And learned that I was so thoughtless
A lesson it taught

To spend money saved through the years
And order it by mail just for kicks
And for what was Hell on the ears
‘Cept for “When You’re Pushing Six”

If I knew that I wouldn't like
what I read on this Board
And heard on the PA at a record store
Would cause me to snore
And I know better now, just because of this:

That this man, broke, 'cause he spent his hard earned dough
And satisfied curiosity
About the record that LP Jim and Mr. Bill Praise
That to KRAYOLA-Dave is...
"--...a No-Go!"

--Ooh, this one was a bit hard to enjoy... Maybe by now, I just may have gotten better adjusted to it; who knows...?
