Mobile Access to A&M Corner

Users of smartphones such as Android and iPhone can now access the A&M Corner Forum using either of two applications: Tapatalk or Forum Runner. We have installed the latest forum plugins, and published our forum's URL on both systems, so you can find both by searching on "A&M Corner."

Both of these are available in two different versions: there is a free "read only" version of both apps, but the paid versions let you post to the forum. They are both relatively cheap to purchase from the Android market or whatever the iPhone uses. Tapatalk does not yet have personal conversation (aka private message) capabilities as it was just released for XenForo two days ago, but Forum Runner does.

The XenForo folks are working on a mobile theme for the forum, so in the future, you will not need an app for optimum forum viewing. You can still view the forum as-is, but it is much easier to navigate using a mobile theme or a forum-viewer app such as these two mentioned here.

If you have any questions regarding mobile usage of the site, please post them here. Thanks!

I have a question. Following the transition yesterday, I logged in with my Droid phone. No questions were asked, it just went straight to a Sorum screen - but one that was formatted differently than the computer screen. It had the logos and stuff up top, but the links for "What's New" weren't at the top, but at the bottom, in a list that looked more formatted for a phone.

Later on in the day, I logged in again on the phone and this time the screen was just like the computer version. I'd gotten the Tapatalk on your advice a few weeks ago, but haven't really used it. What was I seeing? Will it be there automatically today?

I would have to disable the plugins and take a look. As far as I can tell, the two plugins do not change how the main forum operates, other than popping open a reminder to mobile users that the forum is available for Forum Runner or Tapatalk. Another change or two I added do not affect any layout that I know of.

One thing I know is that depending on how you are viewing the forum, it can "degrade" nicely. Even on the oldest of browsers, without Javascript, it is made to look and function even if it is missing some of the extra features.

I upgraded both Tapatalk and Forum Runner addons to the forum on Tuesday, so if there were any weird things happening here, they should be ironed out. Report any bugs or problems here, so I can forward them on to the developers.

It reallu is great that there is now support for Tapatalk which has made the access to the forum a lot easier and versatile at that. It seems like a lot of the forums have already taken this route with their own implementations which surely will benefit them and the users in different ways. I mean now, there will be a lot easier time for people to navigate around making their forum more open and linked at all times.
