I get what you're saying, Harry - but to me, that Rumer track is the closest thing I've heard to Karen. Of course it may be a one off, who knows what the whole album will sound like - but it's a promising start!

Agreed. It also points up just how close Karen Carpenter and Susan Jacks sounded.

I'll be interested to hear more from Rumer.

Ooooh, how very nice to listen to someone who can really sing!! And, yes, she really does sound reminiscent of Karen. Looking forward to more from this young lady.

Thanks Phil and Harry for the links!

Wow- even the production is Carpenteresque.
It is odd to "hear" Karen but know it isn't her. Will be interesting to see what the entire album sounds like. Curious what Richard thinks.

Wow....definitely reminiscent of Karen. I hear it in her intonation. She also possesses the velvety sound Karen had in her voice (i.e.) "Ordinary Fool".

Wow! I love her! To me, she sounds like a hybrid of Karen and Dusty Springfield. GOOD songs, too. I would definitely buy her stuff.

In the Wikipedia website, Rumer was born in 1979 but there are no information about her. Matt Clark Sanford, MI

I read that Rumer at Maida Vale to air on Thu, Aug 12th.

BBC? Radio 2?

According to Radio Times website, Rumer will be part of the "Radio 2 In Concert" show at 8pm on that evening.

Hey, I was trying to find that Rumer in concert thing which is supposed to be on tomorrow? The website is saying it's Roxy Music from 2001? Has it been swapped then?
Please keep me posted if you find out when it is.

EDIT: Panic over - it is just a few tracks from the Maida Vale session as Rumer is in the "support slot".

I wonder when all the Maida Vale session will air then?

Tomorrow, 20:00 on BBC Radio 2
