Got in two nice 180g LPs today.

Black Sabbath: Paranoid. Fortunately this Rhino 180g reissue is better than the Black Sabbath I bought in October (which Rhino said they would exchange, once I ship it back).

Also grabbed the Sony Legacy reissue of Miles Davis Kind Of Blue. It is pressed by RTI; like the fantastic Led Zep box I got, the vinyl on this one is dead quiet. Another great pressing by RTI! Tonality seems to be about the same as the SACD, as I figured it would match the most recent Legacy reissues (both CD and SACD). I really wanted that 50th anniversary box set, but it was too pricey.

As coincidence has it, both of these were mastered and cut by Kevin Gray. I see his "KRG" initials in the deadwax.

Stan Ricker did the Led Zep box; that is why it sounds so darned good. :D

I have The Edgar Winter Group's They Only Come Out At Night playing right now, with U.K.'s self-titled LP on deck.

I do have The Edgar Winter Group "They Only Come Out At Night"/"Shock Treatment" (2 albums on 1 CD) from BGO (Beat Goes On) (import) which sounds better than the 1986 reissued CD Epic release. Matt Clark Sanford, MI

I was playing Mahavishnu Orchestra's Apocalypse and Inner Worlds earlier today. This evening, Bill Evans' Everybody Digs Bill Evans and Interpretations.

    Interesting album...

Never really listened to it much before, but it's growing on me. The Joshua Tree is still my favorite.

I just finished cleaning up Hugh Masekela's I Am Not Afraid LP and am giving that a listen. Great album!

Spent yesterday evening wading through eight 4-CD volumes of the Grand 12 Inches series. Trying to choose which of the tunes to put on the mini hard drive I keep in the car.

Part of a long-awaited order arrived today:

I still prefer vinyl, but it is hard to find any clean Bill on vinyl locally. This arrived at a bargain price of $13 and change. However, it is an import, packaged with an OBI strip and is a gatefold mini-LP configuration with a paperboard innersleeve.

I had two others on order. Naked & Warm was cancelled, and +'Justments is still on backorder. I can reorder the former but the cheapest is $30. :sigh: I am also looking for a digital version of his 45-only release of "U.S.A.". It may be on one of his compilations.

This only leaves 'Bout Love as the only Bill to not be released yet on CD. Although, it is available as a (crappy) MP3 download from Amazon.

Can't say I've heard that one. Am I thinking of the same Dan Hartman?

Likely my favorite of the three (Wave, Tide, Stone Flower). :agree: Santana's cover of the title track has been a highlight for me over the years.
  18. Mike Active Member

Rudy, it's the Dan Hartman from the Edgar Winter Group.

Thought so! I only have his four late 70s/early 80s albums: Instant Replay, Relight My Fire, It Hurts To Be In Love and I Can Dream About You.

I had no idea he was with the Edgar Winter Group. In fact, I never heard of him until the movie Streets of Fire (and the song "I Can Dream About You")... I believe he died of AIDS in 1994...
