Time-Life CD Carpenters Collection

Here is a commercial for the cd, Carpenters Collection from Time-Life.
First time I have ever seen it !
And, too, one of the few which I do not own...

They have some on Amazon. I am curious as to the cds labeled by years as in this video that do not appear in the amazon offer.

The other CDs were compilations of hits within those years by various artists - not Carpenters.

Part of Time-Life’s Super Hits series, this was their 1993 attempt at a one-disc hits compilation and featured many of the latest remixes available at the time.
--------------------------------------------------------------------

I recall at one time these were as common as dirt, but apparently difficult to track down now, for a reasonable price.

It does indeed. But the sound of the largely remixes is first-class on this disc.

What really jars with me on some of these collections is when the majestic-sounding remixes are peppered with original mixes of other tracks e.g. on this collection It's Going To Take Some Time sounds feeble when placed right after 6 remixed tracks. The same effect can be felt when Let Me Be The One is sat amongst remixes.

Wow, these must be pretty rare! This morning, the lowest price on the world's largest internet auction website for a "pre-owned" in "good" condition is $49.50/with free shipping, and the highest; a "like new", "flawless" at $149.95/with $3.00 shipping. Any idea how many of these were produced/sold?

I can't imagine Time-Life doing anything that wasn't above-board....maybe the person who art-directed the project didn't want to use the logo, for whatever reason -- OR, maybe there was some fee for using the logo they didn't want to pay.

Either way, to me it's insane not to use the logo since it's such a visual magnet to buyers.

C'mon people, use your detective skills. There was no logo because the Time-Life series had it's own special font/typeface.

THis disk was a fav for a long time. Seemed like a "thicker" sound at the time. The disk was also more rigid than normal.
