I first bought this CD when I saw Herb Alpert as a guest on "Rise Of The Gods", which is a nice haunting tune. The best track on this album is the straight-ahead swinger "Vernellergize", which aptly displays Brown's piano playing. Unfortunately, the rest of the album is stuck on formulaic smooth jazz, which does nothing for me.

Quite a lot of heavyweight talent on this one for sure! Come to think of it, I haven't really seen Stix Hooper's name since the days of the Crusaders.

Funny, but I keep thinking of Klaus Nomi (who had his own song, "Total Eclipse" back in the days of new wave). :D
