I just came across this strange track on Spotify, which samples Karen’s vocal from I Can’t Make Music throughout. Rather disarming and yet charming at the same time.

No, from what little I recall there was some backlash and I believe Nureau Ink had to pay for the licensing albeit after the fact.

Anytime someone pays tribute to Carpenters, I am appreciative. This song is interesting and moody, as are the lyrics. And I think "I Can't Make Music" works well here. But while listening, as with other songs that sample from a classic work, I can't help but anticipate more of the original song. I am waiting to hear more "I Can't Make Music," but only repetitive snippets are provided.

"TONEX" is a supposed Gospel singer who has had a few controversial incidents. In this song, he sings about his addiction to pornography & masturbation. I could see why Richard would probably not have approved.
