45 yrs ago today, the duo made a concert appearance at the Budokan Hall in Tokyo Japan. My all time favorite video live performance of theirs. I have a lot of favorites during this concert; Jambalaya, The End Of The World, Mr Guder, and Karen performing Sing with schoolchildren in Japanese. What is not to like? Karen is beautiful, Richard evens smiles a few times, but it's that voice of Karen's...She is in her PRIME! So, in recognition of this very important date in Carpenter history, I present a brief snippet of my very favorite moment of this concert, when I feel the complete brilliance of Karen's voice is in overdrive. May I present Yesterday Once More;

Notice how she flares-out the vibrato on the "still shines..." and "so fine..." on the choruses. Chill inducing!!

Same song, but it might be a little different in how Karen sang the notes. “Live In Japan” was recorded in Osaka, while “Budokahn” was recorded in Budokahn.
