Today I received what was *supposed* to be merely a bunch of Elektra Asylum press sheets from Sergio's tenure with that label. I've always been interested in how labels marketed their musicians, and I wanted to see how EA handled Sergio. Well, I was gobsmacked to find stapled in between two of these sheets a six page HANDWRITTEN "biography" and history by Sergio himself, scrawled in red felt pen (it's unmistakably his handwriting and is all in first person). What an amazing find. Little tidbits: his parents gave him his first piano when he was 6 as a present for being ill (he doesn't say what the sickness was), and most interestingly for A&M fans, he talks about leaving the label, stating that he and A&M simply felt after 7 years it was time to start something "fresh" and that there was "no bitterness". Amazing.

Neat. It's nice after all these years to glean a little bit of info about the split from A&M. Thanks JMK.
