Sad Cafe formed in Manchester, England, in the late 1970s.

I've added the original cover which, ultimately, was not used in the US release. Deemed inappropriate for US audiences at the time, A&M opted for a hi-rez graphic art design at the last moment so as to not to offend.
 
Well....appropriate or not, I like the American cover much better. That was a classy album and the US cover is clearly the classier image, IMHO.
 
Yeah, the first cover is a lot nicer. That second cover was an idea that should have stayed an idea. Very unsettling and just gross...

I agree the cover that WAS used was the better one. When I first read about and then saw the other cover my initial reaction was shock. I added it for completeness's sake, and do so whenever I know of an alternate cover (not to include foruiegn releases).

After more than two decades of listening to the LP, I believe the red cover "fits" the music better than the art the group wanted -- classy image, classy music. The band's desired cover would fit a much more hard-rock sound than what they actually performed...
