Liner notes excerpt: The Shawn Phillips music. Kaleidoscopic and organic. Flowing. Living for a time. Incorporating every musical style from Bulgarian to quarter tone to African. But going its own way. Fulfilling one of the prerequisities of art - It doesn't leave you feeling quite the same.

Side One: Manhole Covered Wagon 4:34/ L Ballade 6:47/ Not Quite Nonsense 1:45/ No Question 3:37.

Side Two: Withered Roses 8:18/ For RFK, JFK and MLK 4:54/ Lovely Lady 4:56/ Screamer for Phlyses 6:09.

All titles written by Shawn Phillips/ Published by Dick James Music Inc. BMI/ Producer Jonathan Weston for Philjo Music Inc./ Engineer Robin Cagle at Trident Studios, London, England/ Art Direction Tom Wilkes/ Photography Jim McCrary.

Saturday's mail contained a newspaper-style ad from Collectors Choice announcing a huge sale on overstocked discs. Included is a 3-for-$27 deal on the Shawn Phillips' catalog, including the reissue of SP 4241 and others, including some pre-A&M for the completist.
