This was all Creed Taylor's signing, not Herb or Jerry's.

I'm not a big fan of this album, either, although I really enjoy "Music For Night People". Burt Collins' trumpet work is pretty nice here.

I never understood this album either.
I can only imagine the looks on the faces of Herbie Hancock and Ron Carter as they had to play through this stuff. The last song selection sums up this LP for me.
 
I guess I can be counted in the minority who actually enjoy this album. True, it and the Tamiko Jones/Richard barbary pair are out of place next to the rest of the A&M era CTis, they are still enjoyable slabs o'vinyl* in their own ways..
