A bit of a transitional album; this would be their last disc on A&M before signing with Warner Bros., and this was also their first LP with new vocalist Barbara Weathers replacing Sharon Bryant (who'd go on to a moderately successful solo career, peaking with a minor Top 40 hit on the pop charts with the song "Let Go" on the Wing label.)

Strangely enough, the only Atlantic Starr full-length on A&M that I've ever got around to picking up is their '78 self-titled debut (which didn't yield any crossover hits but is a fairly good record; bizarrely enough, the song that struck me as being the catchiest song on that album - "Visions" - was not one of the singles), so, while I've got the single for "Secret Lovers," I've still yet to pick up or hear this full album, even though it was their most successful outing for the label. (They'd had a minor Top 40 hit by this point with the '82 song "Circles," but "Secret Lovers" would eclipse it several times over and go Top Ten.) I must say, even though they'd go on to have bigger hits after their stint with A&M (the ballads "Always" and "Masterpiece"), "Secret Lovers" is still my favorite single of theirs. How does the rest of the album compare, for any of you who have heard the whole disc?

Ive heard some of this album (the radio station i work at has this) in the 80s when this was released i only heard "secret lovers" and the followup "if your heart isnt in it" the latter song is my favorite standout track. What i have heard on the album so far the two aforementioned songs are the best.IMO.
