B. Slade and the Carpenters

B. Slade (Anthony Charles Williams II, formerly known as Tonéx) had some interesting observations about the Carpenters in a panel discussion about Janet Jackson's Rhythm Nation 1814. The relevant part begins at the 44:38 minute mark, although you may need to begin listening a bit earlier for context.

As has been noted several times previously on this forum, B. Slade (as Tonéx) sampled "I Can't Make Music" on his song "Feelings". He also used "Hurting Each Other" on his song of the same name.

Great to see that an artist who was born during the peak of the Carpenters success (1975) has respect and knowledge of the duo. Sounds like remnants of "We've Only Just Begun" were also used in the recording.
