It's flattering when someone mistakes you for a bona fide record executive and calls long distance with a question.
Today I received a call from an Atlanta area filmmaker interested in using some vintage A&M label Barry White music in a planned soundtrack. He found my name in one of these postings and assumed I actually worked for the label.
He wished to find out who held the rights to songs recorded by White for A&M in order to secure permisison to use them in the movie. I suggested he might contact Universal first and go from there, since Mr. White is deceased and it's not certain whether he had obtained control over his catalog while still living.
Since it's likely the filmmaker reads this forum, if anyone has further ideas which might assist he or she may weigh in. I don't know what the subject matter could be. Perhaps a biographical epic on Mr. White is in the works.
I'm hopeful we will learn more about this project as things progress.
