Wow I never saw this album. The Brothers Johnson fell out of favor pretty fast after their initial handful of hits.
 
They were certainly past their peak popularity when this was released. Their songs were more popular a decade earlier, when Quincy Jones was producing their albums. Thankfully they still were busy as session musicians throughout the years.
 
No joke: I never knew what "Strawberry Letter #23" was until I heard it on the Muzak system in the grocery store. Am I old or what?

I only knew it from the red 12-inch single. I didn't realize the single was sped up until I picked up the A&M Backlot Greatest Hits CD and heard it at the proper "album" speed. The flip side was OK though.
