"Carpenters: An Illustrated Discography": New Book by Randy Schmidt

I agree, it is amazing that something like this hasn't seen the light of day yet. Kudos to you, Randy. You're one of the go-getters that every fan set needs and you certainly are appreciated.

Mine was #40 something a couple days ago so if it’s in the 70’s now than the limited edition #’s are going to sell out pretty quickly. I wanted the 8x10 frameable print as well.

Just to clarify, your order number will most likely not correspond with the number inside your signed copy of the book. Every order generated is assigned an order number. Some people order more than one book under that number, others cancel their order but the number still exists in the system. I guess you could say the order numbers received on email confirmations are really more of an in-office thing.

So my chances of getting #1 of 100 have greatly increased
I’ll be happy just to get a book like this...something we have all wanted for a long time.

The pre-ordered "Special Editions" will be signed and numbered in gold (in advance) and include a frameable 8x10. But yes, I will gladly sign copies of the book at the event in April, too. And I will have copies of Little Girl Blue and Yesterday Once More on hand, too.

Thank you Randy for answering my question. It's going to be so great to meet you!

So, I figured I'd try the signed copy w/ tote and sticker. It did not say sold out, and order # was 106. I am thinking it would've said sold out. So maybe it is 106 orders total: signature or not.

So ism thinking there is a good chance my copy will have some gold ink.

Yes, you will have some gold ink! The number 106 includes orders of just the book itself, too, so not just those to be signed/numbered. And we decided that the "limited edition" will be all the books pre-ordered through the site, even if it goes over 100. It will still be quite limited considering it's such a small percentage of the print run, which will be warehoused and delivered at a later date.

So glad that "OFFERING" will be showcased in this book. As opposed to the TTR repackage. Yes, I know they are the same album musically, great marketing ploy by A&M (made them lots of money). However, "Offering" IS their debut album and should get all the love.

I follow the hashtag #karencarpenter on Instagram and I’ve just seen this post, it looks like Randy's new book. The image posted contains two previously unreleased photos of Karen at the mic recording her solo album

^^Oh, I love that ! Thanks for alerting us to that, Stephen.
And, that line by Steinberg:
"Karen's solo album has been unfairly overlooked,
hopefully this book can encourage people to listen with open ears
."

Thank you Stephen.
I would not have seen these otherwise. They appear to be outtakes from the Bonnie Schiffman photo session. Awesome to see these!!

Yes! There are three images licensed from Claude Mougin, who did the professional "glamour" photography for the solo album, in addition to MANY from the Bonnie Schiffman session. So happy to be able to share these! Also lots of outtakes from album shoots and some never before seen concert and backstage photos. Taking pre-orders for advance copies for a few more weeks. Then it should hit Amazon and B&N for pre-orders around that time.

Randy

I can't wait to read what folks think about Karen's solo album. Listening to it now- and I love it (still).

Same here! I’m really intrigued as to hear people’s thoughts. I love it too and often have it on in the car.
