Carpenters "Covers" that are kinda nice....

I usually can't get through those professional Carpenters "Tribute" show samples on the web. And most of the individual covers by others are just OK. I'm resigned to the fact nobody will ever sound like Karen. But I came across this cover of "Close To You" that popped up on Youtube in the last week. Sung by a father and his kids ( I think they're in the Phillippines). Looking at their setup, for some reason, all I could think of was John Bettis' comment that the Carpenters were his "garage band." And as this family started to sing, I thought of Karen and Richard during their garage band days and how they looked in the early "Close to You" videos..... just a couple of kids trying to make it big. I'll take this family singing a Carpenters song over any pro Tribute show. They do a nice job with the waaaaaaaas..... at the end.
