Carpenters Museum | What Would You Include?

I Know My First Name Is Stephen
I mentioned on another thread that it would be a dream to see a permanent Carpenters Museum created in the duo’s honour, akin to the ABBA Museum in Stockholm. If such a thing ever happened, what items would you like to see on display?

Some of mine would be:

- Karen’s Jellybean and Blue Swirl drumkits
- Karen’s 1979 Mercedes 350SL
- “Close To You” lead sheet
- Herb Alpert’s “Weeee We’re Number One” note
- Selection of original demo tapes on display of their 1960s demos
- Previously unreleased photographs from Richard’s archive
- Karen’s solo album outfits (if Richard still even has them)
- Carpenters original stage logo
- Selection of outfits we’ve seen in well-known photos, such as Karen’s yellow 1981 “Good Old Dreams” outfit and their 1974 Japanese kimonos

- All of the Carpenters Gold and Platinum records mounted in chronological order.
- An assortment of Richard's keyboards
- Photos and bio's of the Carpenters touring band
- Section dedicated to Joe Osborne, Herb Alpert and Jerry Moss
- Historical time table with photos from New Haven to Downey
- A small theater which would highlight the Carpenters career including TV appearances, specials and concert footage
- Hire Stephen as the museum's chief curator and public relations rep!

My dream job!

Great suggestions Jim - love the idea of a historical timetable chronicling their journey. I saw similar things at the ABBA Exhibition in London. One feature I would add is a mini mixing desk, where you could play one of their songs and be the studio engineer, mixing instruments and vocals up or down. It made the experience interactive and was really cool!
