Christmas Portrait Redux update?

Just came across this link!

It seems we are getting a much-shortened version of the overture, which is a welcome change. That'll be lovely to hear, something new. And it's true - 'Happy Holiday' does segue nicely into 'Christmas Waltz' in the same key :)

"In fact, it’s Richard’s voice that begins the proceedings on Christmas Once More, with his twelve-voice, multi-overdubbed arrangement of “It Came Upon A Midnight Clear” leading into “Happy Holiday,” a song that ends on F# above middle-C — the exact same note Karen then sings to begin the irresistible “Christmas Waltz.” Observed Richard, “I like to connect these things when I can.”

I have to believe in some Christmas magic that with a title like this maybe next year we will get a Christmas Once More Vol 2

Maybe in a colored green or red vinyl or maybe frosted peppermint to go along with our gold vinyl.

What could make up a 16 track Vol 2 and how would they segue?

Here is a High Res Photo similar to the one posted earlier from the facebook pre-order photo.

I got out my DVD of Christmas Memories which has this same photo and noticed the one on the DVD is very soft focused.
Also the DVD shot does not contain the purple ribbon on her sleeve to her outfit like this one does.
This one is more grainy and has a less softened effect.
I can't tell from the smaller images of the listings for purchase if it will be this shot or a softened photo used for the vinyl cover.

Your above picture, has the version of the photo that will be on the CD and LPs, I'm sure. Good eye, Rick. I noticed the difference between the DVD and album photo as well. On the DVD it was filtered a bit and softer, and it was placed on a different background to include some of the choir and candle pedestals. From the looks of it, the new album has used the original photo unedited, with the tree and lights added in the foreground of course. I love both versions, but it is nice to see the photo of Karen and Richard with lots more fine detail. She is especially lovely.

I hope enough of the original multitracks have survived for the Carpenters' oeuvre to receive similar treatment. This is a great start!

Chris May was saying on another forum on this site that the tapes were transferred digitally as part of various remixing projects that all took place before the Universal fire in 2008. If they ever did go the full Atmos route, they'd probably use those.

I finally decided to upgrade my 1st gen AirPods which I’ve had for 6-7 yrs to the AirPods Pro 2nd gen. Apple still sells them for $249 but I found them on sale for $189.

I’ll finally get to hear this Atmos processing on the new album and maybe on the single already released last year in Atmos.

Right. And most everything we're hearing that has come out in the last few years is being mixed primarily from the digital stems. The stuff all sounds great!

Once you listen to MCD from the RPO, which is also in Atmos, I’d be interested to know what you think about that track. I got the Pro’s a couple of months ago and am finding some of the Atmos tracks (not just Carpenters) are totally fantastic, some underwhelming, and some with odd phasing sounds in them.

After an initial knee-jerk reaction at the fact we weren't getting the expected double disc and my all time favourite I'll Be Home For Christmas has been omitted, I'm really looking forward to this.

It's not just the remixes, but hearing these tunes in a new order.

Cant wait.

I'm looking forward to it as well. I wish it was November 1st already! The fact that so many of us are excited, shows just how beloved the Christmas recordings are. Can't wait to hear Christmas Waltz with her glorious voice sounding so clear leading directly out of Happy Holiday. I think it's going to be divine.

CD Japan has just listed Christmas Once More, it has a little different description. It says a Japanese Edition Exclusive. Most all Japan CD's include SHM so I can't really see how SHM would be a Japanese Edition Exclusive since they have been using SHM for years now. So what is Exclusive? @Chris May

I subscribe to the theory that an SHM-CD *might* sound a teensy bit better (slightly less judder correction going on) when played on a dedicated upscale CD player. There will be zero difference when ripped to a computer or played on a low-end CD player.

I thought “judder” was just a video thing. How can it benefit a CD? Honestly asking.
