I actually had the BackLot series one (after asking a record store worker "his opinion on which would be better", and realizing the purple copy had slight water-stain damage)...

I like the more thorough job at covering more material, the four unreleased tracks (one being a reworking of 'Switching') and the nice liner notes...

Another great set and ranking among the "Must Have's" in either version of this series...

I have the purple copy and i used to have greatest hits a&m sp 4247 on vinyl and this cd not only has all the contents of greatest hits but more as well as the unreleased songs this definitley replaced my old greatest hits lp and more than that added even a few extras when his three main a&m/ cti albums were released on cd i bought those as well then bought his verve albums on cd this cd is a great introduction for those who are new to the musical legacy of wes montgomery and fans of his a&m output will surely be happy with this cd and completists will appreciate the previously unreleased material too. I was 14 when got my first hearing of wes montgomery's greatest hits and i was hooked.and this cd kept me there.
