Hello,

I thought maybe I'd repeat my question here. What is a good mid-line amp with 7.1? Wattage 110 per channel or 100w or what exactly? How much is a fair price here and also keeping in mind SACD viability?

I'm on the brink of purchase,

Jeff

I myself personally think 7.1 is bit too much at this point, there's virtually no material of this kind available that I know of. You should go for 5.1 or 6.1, especially if you're just jumping into one of these systems. I myself have a ONKYO HTS-770 6.1 1000 Watt System. It Included all speakers and amplifier. Its a great system to my ears and amazing Listening to Karen solo'd on the center channel in high fidelity, like she's right in the room. Here's a link to the set I'm speaking of with all the specifications and info.

There are customer reviews for it, and you can browse for other systems also to compare. Hope I helped some.

Thanx for the link but I'm looking for something more sophisticated. This is a question for Rudy I suppose. Curious, just what is Rudy playing his magic music over? The ideal Karen and Richard studio replication is found where? Including speakers?

This I gotta know,

I don't do surround, so I can't help too much. (2-channel here, and it's all through separate components.) But if you have the $$$, you can get a heck of a nice surround receiver from NAD, which I've heard good things about sonically. Denon's better models are good also. Just keep in mind that everything today, even movie DVDs, is only mastered with 5.1 channels; any more channels added are "synthesized" by the surround electronics. If you need to grab the output of an SACD player in surround, you'll want to be sure the receiver has the appropriate analog inputs for it; most surround receivers do, these days.
