It depends on the computer, or actually, the DVD-ROM drive. In some cases, the drive is not capable of selecting a region so, in effect, it is "region-free". In others, you are allowed to change your region only a certain number of times; after that, it stays set at the final region permanently.

Better off getting a region-free DVD player. They are available for purchase. And also be sure that the player can properly play both PAL and NTSC. I've heard that the Apex brand of player, while having mediocre sound and picture, does offer both PAL and NTSC playback.

There are also hacks for existing DVD players to make them region-free. Some older players can bypass region coding simply by entering a hidden "setup" mode on the remote, while others may require minor modifications to the internal electronics.

Thank you, Rudy.
I had wondered if I would buy Region 1 DVD and be able to watch it on my computer or not.
Your message helps me.

I hope Music DVD will be released as region free!
