I do like this album (and it is a great idea as a one-off project, especially due to the mutual respect and admiration they had for each other), but I prefer hearing both of them on their own albums. It's nice hearing them share each other's songs. :agree:

Isn't this a follow-up to Jobim's Tierra Brasilis? (Of which I always took the cover as 'depicting the entire world, every continent as "Brasil", or Brasilian Lands'!!!!

That was an ultimate collaboration of Jobim w/ arranger Claus Ogerman (which I believe had previously done & maybe re-worked tracks together, too)...

I like this album a lot. Two great composers working together. I love the playfulness of the first tune, "Ai, Quem Me Dera". The flugelhorn player, Marcio Montarroyos does a couple of nice solos, first with an Alpert-esque sound on "Chovendo...", then a sizzling solo on "Vento Bravo". While I prefer the Brasil '66 version of "Canto Triste", this version is kind of cool with a more low-key style. Definitely an album worth picking up.

Here's a nice recent version of "Canto Triste" from his 1995 album Meia-Noite.
