Yesterday, to my surprise, I found Herb Alpert Is... on Tubi. I had wanted to see it a second time. Unfortunately, there were a million ads, but some documentaries are like novels-new things pop out at you that maybe you weren't paying attention to before. I still prefer the 2010 documentary, but, again, it was enjoyable seeing this one again.

I just watched this on YouTube free with ads. I thought Lani and Herb were always a couple and was surprised to learn he was married to Sharon Lubin prior to his relationship with Lani.
In the documentary, Herb explains he was going through an identity crisis, which led to him not being able to play the trumpet and divorcing his first wife. He explained that when he left his wife (and their home) and as he was driving down the highway let out a scream of freedom and drove straight to Lani's house. Lani then explains that when he got there he told her he could not live without her and she was taken aback exclaiming, "What? What does this mean?"
It left me wondering, at that time they had been working closely together for at least 5 years. Were they seeing each other prior to his eventual divorce from Sharon or was it after he started divorce proceedings and left Sharon that he declared his feelings for Lani. Had he been harboring feelings for Lani all that ime and she did not know?
