I'm also surprised at how he had been opposed to the idea for so long, largely due to missing his bandmates in the TJB. And I can't say I don't blame him for that, especially the original TJB. They essentially lived together for a few years--touring, recording, etc. But I have a feeling that, as he's played a couple of these songs over the past couple of decades, going out and doing a new TJB just for the joy of revisiting those songs probably felt attractive in a way, and he also knows that longtime fans (and plenty of new ones!) will enjoy seeing one last run of the band.To think that Herb's TJB albums started coming out over SIXTY years ago, is a mind-number, especially when he's still willing to go out and play the tunes!
I vaguely remember those two mid 70s tours we attended--the audience even then was eating it up, and ending the final encore with "Zorba" was the icing on the cake. Like a giant party with a really cool band. 👍
I can't wrap my mind around him turning 90. Must be a misprint. I'm thinking 70...75, tops. (Please say it ain't so! 😁 )
