Herb Alpert & The Tijuana Brass & Other Delights: 2025 Tour

Herb Alpert & The Tijuana Brass & Other Delights: 2025 Tour

To think that Herb's TJB albums started coming out over SIXTY years ago, is a mind-number, especially when he's still willing to go out and play the tunes!
I'm also surprised at how he had been opposed to the idea for so long, largely due to missing his bandmates in the TJB. And I can't say I don't blame him for that, especially the original TJB. They essentially lived together for a few years--touring, recording, etc. But I have a feeling that, as he's played a couple of these songs over the past couple of decades, going out and doing a new TJB just for the joy of revisiting those songs probably felt attractive in a way, and he also knows that longtime fans (and plenty of new ones!) will enjoy seeing one last run of the band.

I vaguely remember those two mid 70s tours we attended--the audience even then was eating it up, and ending the final encore with "Zorba" was the icing on the cake. Like a giant party with a really cool band. 👍

I can't wrap my mind around him turning 90. Must be a misprint. I'm thinking 70...75, tops. (Please say it ain't so! 😁 )

I like a lot of stuff that was created before I was born -- Jack Benny shows, Looney Tunes, certain movies, etc. It just blows me away to think that some of that stuff was made 70 or 80 or more years ago. To think that Herb's TJB albums started coming out over SIXTY years ago, is a mind-number, especially when he's still willing to go out and play the tunes!

I think (and I think the artwork and title on the Facebook ads supports it) that this is really a "60th Anniversary of Whipped Cream" tour, since that was the big breakthrough for the TJB.

The individual pages for the venues in 2025 are still a bit wonky. I'm seeing Feb. 11 in Ft. Lauderdale that clearly lists the TjB & other delights. Next day (Feb.12, it's over in Sarasota and also lists the TjB.

Then we go one more day on Feb. 13 and in Orlando, it's showing Herb Alpert & Lani Hall. I would find it hard to believe that they would bring back the old show for one day. Then two days later it's up to Atlanta and we're back to the TjB show.

Naturally, I'd want to do the Orlando show based on proximity, but if it's not the TjB show, maybe I should go to Sarasota, which is like three hours away.

Herb's social media team is very good at responding. You should probably just ask.

Does anyone have any information on this? I've been seeing a lot of these on Instagram for various concerts. Honestly I thought that the days of Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass were history, but I'd be very interested to going to one of these if they come play in Southern California. Maybe a new album with this band is in the works? Thanks in advance....

Herb has been opposed to the idea since the 70s. My guess is it wasn’t his idea and he reluctantly agreed to do it because he’s a nice guy and knows a lot of people would enjoy it.

I'm reaching out via IG, so I'll see if they reply. If not, I'll see if I can get in touch with Herb's management.

If there are a few Herb & Lani gigs in the mix, I wonder if they are make-up dates for cancelled appearances in the past.

Generally, just a comment on any of the posts about the concert on social media (Facebook, Instagram). Herb's team usually responds within a few hours. Looks like Rudy's got it, though.
Nothing yet. I get the feeling they ignore direct messages though. Most accounts do.

There have been a lot of responses to questions on the Facebook page. I don't really do Instagram much so I can't comment on that.

As to the "why" of this tour after all the years of saying "I like to look forward, not back," I wonder if Randy had anything to do with it. Or maybe Herb is looking at it as a "coming full circle" kind of thing. I'm just glad he's not calling it a "farewell tour."

When I originally started this thread, I didn't realize that a similar one had already begun. For some weird reason, Safari hasn't been updating this forum for awhile...I'll be using Chrome for this now, as I see now that I missed a BUNCH of posts.

Too bad it won't be a 9-member band like the 70s version, which added two extra -- Julius "officially" a member on marimba and Vince Charles on percussion... Or 10 members if you count Lani (she was in every 70's TJB "official" picture I got from A&M)...

From the BillBoard article I kind of got the sense that he decided to do this based on his feelings after Sergio's passing, likely coupled with Burt Bacharach's and the recent passings of both John Pisano and Bob Edmondson... Just a hunch.

If he comes to Texas with the show I WILL be there, no matter what the band line up is!

Thanks. I see that Orlando is in the list - as I assumed it should be - and I went ahead and ordered tickets yesterday.

where to order tickets?
I think that once the dates are listed on his site, they should have links to purchase tickets. They are also posting them on Instagram as the dates become available. Here's the latest (same as what Mike posted above):

On the herbalpert.com site, under the "Tour" section, the list of upcoming performances and venues each show a link to the venues ticket-ordering site. The Orlando one took me to the Dr. Phillips Center website, gave me a map ov available seats, and walked me through the ordering process, which at this site includes a link to order parking or valet service as well.

They're going to be in lots of cities that we routinely go to... Denver, Salt Lake, Seattle, Las Vegas, Los Angeles. We're in Orlando usually at least once a year too, but the February date is too close to another trip we have planned in late January.

Now to watch the Facebook like a hawk for when more go on sale!

I'm wondering if CO Springs/SLC/Denver might be an option for me. I'll keep my eyes open, as it could coincide with another trip.

And while he and Hall have concert dates books into mid-December, next February Alpert plans to hit the road with a revived version of the Tijuana Brass, the band he led from the early ‘60s into the mid-70s and released hits such as the Billboard Hot 100 top 10 “The Lonely Bull” and the Billboard 200-topping 1965 album Whipped Cream & Other Delights.
Will they also come to Europe? I couldn't find any information about it.

I wonder if any of the "reimagined" arrangements from MUSIC VOLUME 3 will work their way into the live performances?

I'm thinking they'll stay close to the originals.

But that also begs the argument of us remembering the reimagined and rewhipped versions as well. 😁
