I accidentally stumbled onto A Michel Colombier site which had the following "Official Herb Alpert" website in the Links Page:

http://www.imagehold.com/

The music link takes you to what we all know as www.herbalpert.com while the bio link goes to the pages from the Passion Dance era ALMOSounds bio page. The Art link takes you to a pretty cool art webpage.

Incidentally, according to Colombier's website, Wings was reissued by Uni on 22 April, 2002...

Looks half finished...almost like they need some kind of link to hold it all together.

That book of his art is neat. Should pick up a copy.

I poked around on that Michel Colombier website too. The link is:

http://www.michelcolombier.com

It does indeed say that WINGS was re-released in April and available at larger online distributors. However, a check at CDNow and amazon revealed nothing. More checks at Tower and CD Universe again showed no WINGS releases. The only place I found a listing was at HMV in Canada http://www.hmv.com and their listing says it was released on 5/28/02, but that they'd have to "special order" it. The price was ugly too at $24.99 (although it was in Canadian dollars, so it really works out to about a buck fifty!)

For those who are unaware, WINGS was an "experimental" album produced by Herb Alpert, featuring the mixing of pop music in a modern orchestral setting. Michel Colombier wrote the music and conducted in France, while the vocals by Herb, Lani Hall, Bill Medley, Vermettya Royster, and Paul Williams (who wrote the lyrics) were recorded at A&M in Hollywood.

Lani's "We Could Be Flying" hails from this album as does Herb's rather nice vocal on "All In All."

Poking even further around Michel's site reveals some strange reviews of Wings. One places "lead vocalist of Mendes' Brasil 66" after Vermettya's credit, but fails to mention Lani Hall. Another lists Mendes among the vocalists performing. And I'll need to pull out my rather doggeared copy of the original yellow sleeve to see if Kai Winding did indeed play on it -- reading that in one of the Wings reviews made my eyebrow go all spocky on me...

trying to remain logical, online and off...

I just checked our catalog here at the store. The only Michel Colombier item listed is an album called OLD FOOL BACK ON EARTH, which is an import.

Just to be safe I tried looking up "Michael" Colombier also....nothing listed there!

I have a couple of his art books. I'm certainly not an authority on art by any means, but some of his stuff is interesting, especially with some of the loud colors he uses. He's really into the purples and bright blues.
