How do you clean your stylus?

Which method do you use? Any unknown tips?

I use a stylus cleaning brush with stylus cleaning solution, or a drop of water. I always fasten the arm down with the arm lock, and slowly brush forward. Do not brush backward or you risk breaking the stylus off the cartridge. Never use alcohol for a cleaning solution either. It can dissolve the adhesive that holds the stylus or tip on. I usually turn the amp on so I can hear how hard I’m pressing. I don’t want to break an expensive needle off ever again. I sometimes take the cartridge off the arm for an all around light dusting. Again, moving in forward light brush strokes. Anyway it seems to work well for me after a couple of hours of play.

Another method is to use a small blob of Blu-Tack and rest the stylus in it--that will pluck off any crud that has accumulated.

One of my LP friends introduced me to this methodology years ago -- it's far and away the finest cleaner I've used.
