Hi, I'm fascinated by the Carpenters record sales and can only find sales and certified albums and singles for the USA and the UK which after doing some maths got this:

    6 multi-platinum, 2 platinum and 5 Gold albums + 10 gold singles.

    = 34,500,000

    2 multi-platinum, 3 platinum, 13 gold albums and 5 silver albums + 3 silver singles

    = 5,650,000

Total certified sales of US and UK

    = 40,150,000

if people are into the stats of the carpenters, I bought this earlier in the year as it`s been updated apparently, though I haven't read it myself yet!
might be worth owning if you are :)

That’s an interesting statistic. The Gold compilation seems to have served them very, very well in the UK compared to the US.

I’ve often wondered, taking into account royalties to other writers on the album, record company cut etc, how much would Richard Carpenter actually make from selling one copy of a posthumous compilation like this?

  5. Remember that GOLD in the UK is a one-disc CD. In the US it's a double CD, generally costing much more.
