June 2024 In Memoriam

Did anyone on the Forum know Al Lutz? His brother informed me that he has died. I’m guessing maybe east coast area, NY. Anyway he was a big Carpenters fan, and somehow he knew them, I was told.

I never thought Martin Mull got the attention he deserved.

I loved his album Near Perfect/Perfect. The album cover was one of the best ever, in my opinion. The cover photo was covered with all sorts of notes and suggestions for edits, and the inside sleeve was the "finished" version of the cover. It was really clever.

The comedy/music bits were really funny too. One of my favorites being a new song he opened with:

🎵Don't put off till tomorrow
🎵What you can do today
🎵Don't leave things half finished

That's all we've done on that...

Here's a video of the album; if you watch it, you'll see the outside front and back cover followed by the inside "finished" versions.

Oh my gosh! :rotf:I'd only ever heard a handful of Martin Mull tracks before but just took a listen to this and laughed my head off. That "Don't Put Off 'til Tomorrow" bit was absolutely ingenious. Thank you so much for sharing that! I'll most definitely have to go scout out a copy of this one now.
