📜 Feature June Digital Challenge: Show us what you have on CD, SACD, DVD-Audio, BluRay Audio, or downloaded as files

Feature article
To go with the May Vinyl Challenge, here's a similar challenge for June. As with May's challenge we'll often interpret some of these challenges loosely. To make the list less cumbersome, "CD" refers to the CD and any other digital version (DVD-Audio, download, SACD, etc.), as long as you own it!

June 1: Show us your first, or one of your first, CDs ever purchased.
June 2: Show us a favorite two-fer CD (two albums on one CD)--no box sets.
June 3: Three-inch CDs! That failed "CD single/EP" format.
June 4: Great 4th album by an artist.
June 5: Share a unique or favorite live recording on CD.

June 6: Favorite box set (content edition--your favorite musically).
June 7: Your gateway drug! Show a CD that started you listening to an artist, group, or both.
June 8: A CD of music from your influential early years.
June 9: Favorite side gigs: notable solo albums from popular groups.
June 10: Show something from an artist you have ten or more unique original album CDs of (not compilations, or 10 copies of Synchronicity, in other words).

June 11: Repeat play! CDs you'll play more than once in a row.
June 12: Random grab! Show the first thing you pick randomly.
June 13: What's the weirdest thing you own on CD (or digital)?
June 14: Best-sounding new release on CD (not a reissue).
June 15: Halfway point. Show & Tell with your CD or digital playback system.

June 16: Soundtrack Sunday
June 17: Celebrate a favorite producer.
June 18: An album that was popular during your final year of high school.
June 19: Best box set package/presentation (the package, not the music).
June 20: Neglected titles! Show us something you haven't played in a while.

June 21: Favorite CDs for summer!
June 22: Single albums/releases with the most CD copies in your collection.
June 23: Show your favorite import CD(s).
June 24: Bootleg, unofficial, or pirated CD in your collection.
June 25: Six months until Xmas! Show a favorite holiday CD.

June 26: Stinkers! Show us something you regret buying!
June 27: Best-sounding reissue(s) on CD.
June 28: New artist discoveries (new to you).
June 29: Best vs. worst album from a favorite band.
June 30: The latest/the end...show your latest purchase(s)!

The latest digital additions to my library are a pair of CDs in the "Hard To Find Jukebox Classics - Stereo Explosion" series. I picked up Volume 6, The Fabulous Fifties and Volume 10, Sixties Classic 1960-1968. I wanted each of these for largely a couple of tracks.

The Fifties volume contains a new stereo mix of "Sh-Boom" by The Chords, along with a few other favorites of mine from The Four Lads ("Istanbul Not Constantinople) and ("Moments To Remember"). Those were all favorites from my childhood, and these guys do really good stereo conversions.

The Sixties disc has more recognizable stuff for me including the big one - Herb Alpert & The Tijuana Brass' "Mexican Shuffle" converted to a serviceable stereo version. Plus there are other goodies like the Vogues "Five O'Clock World".

Alejandro Fernandez “Te Llevo En La Sangre”. 602465 526479. Universal. Released May 24, 2024.

Sometimes I just need some Alejandro Fernandez. A perfect blend of traditional ranchera music and contemporary rhythms. This one is his latest fresh off the May 2024 new releases. It doesn't disappoint.

I had to look back a ways to find something, since I tend to add things from Qobuz to the library for future listening but don't necessarily buy them if I don't like them enough.

So this seems to be the most recent. Can't say I've played it more than once or twice though. I went right back to Bebel Gilberto's first and second albums after playing it.

I have been gone for most of the past week without any internet so I have a bit of catching up to do.
Favorite Christmas Album is Mannheim Steamroller's first Christmas album.
New Artist Discovery to me is The Parade.
Best Vs Worst- Brasil' 66 Look around as best and Stillness as worst for me. I did not care for the title song of Stillness and the overall sound for the English songs was not as good as past albums but I will give good credit for Sometimes in Winter and Lost in Paradise.
Artist new to me- The Parade. I got a complete songs cd and I really enjoy it.

I was going to buy this set, such a good price, which has gone up $6.00 in the last week, but I found the Qudio-Dolby Atmos-Stereo version on the Rhino website. They found the original quad masters from the mid 70’s to mix it. Court And Spark never sounded more amazing in true quadraphonic surround. The discs are perfectly quiet. Worth every cent. All the CDs above are in all 3 formats on each disc. I have Fleetwood Mac Rumors coming as well. The Doobie Brothers box looks fun. Sold out, and selling for lots of money, as are the Chicago titles.
