Did anyone catch the *brief* appearance of Karen and Richard on ENTERTAINMENT TONIGHT this evening (3/28)?

The show played up their appearance by showing a clip of them and saying "Coming up on ET, memorable Oscar moments with the likes of Karen and Richard Carpenter."

Well, when they actually showed the "memorable" Oscar moments, Karen and Richard got approximately one-and-a-half seconds of airtime, showing them getting photographed on the red carpet as they arrived at the ceremony. That was it. VERY memorable!

I guess ET's scheme worked -- I sat and watched the show for twenty minutes waiting for that one-and-a-half seconds...

The "memorable moments" clips were all very short bits of footage (one to two seconds) of stars arriving on the red carpet outside the auditorium, from various years. They included Burt Reynolds and Dinah Shore, Karen and Richard, Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Burton, Judy Garland, Liza Minelli. They did show slightly longer clips of Julie Andrews backstage (holding her Oscar and saying "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious") and George Burns.
No performances...
