These may have been discussed on here before, but I would like information on the following two albums:

1) Ticket to Ride Hamlet records light blue border. What information do people have about this? Is it rare? Why published under another company?

2) Carpenters Collection UK 3 lp set. How rare is this? What is included on the track list? What year was it released?

Thanks
Jonathan

I meant to answer at least partially and didn't get around to it. Sorry.

The OFFERING/TICKET TO RIDE album was occasionally, over the years, licensed out by A&M to budget labels. Since it had no huge hits other than "Ticket To Ride", I guess it was deemed acceptable to farm out to the "minors."

I have no personal experience with the UK set of LPs. Discogs lists this:

http://www.discogs.com/Carpenters-Collection-3-LP-Boxed-Set/release/3456218

It looks like a mixture of the tracks from CLOSE TO YOU through NOW AND THEN.

Is this the Carpenters Collection UK 3 lp set that you're asking about?

I had this set many a year ago. It was released in 1975 (Catalogue No. CARP-1000) though there were no songs from the "Horizon" album included in this collection. The big lp sized booklet (center top row of the 2nd picture) contained many pages that included an interview along with many pictures, one of which was this one from a 1975 interview at A&M studios:

The booklet may have contained song lyrics but I no longer remember. The song selections were from Close To You, Carpenters, A Song For You and Now & Then and were as follows:

1. (They Long To Be) Close To You
2. Jambalaya (On The Bayou)
3. Bless The Beasts & The Children
4. Saturday
5. Help
6. For All We Know
7. A Song For You
8. Sing
9. Let Me Be The One
10. Mr Guder
11. I'll Never Fall In Love Again
12. Goodbye To Love
13. Rainy Days And Mondays
14. Love Is Surrender
15. Heather (Instrumental)
16. Maybe It's You
17. Druscilla Penny
18. This Masquerade
19. Superstar
20. Flat Baroque
21. I Won't Last A Day Without You
22. I Kept On Loving You
23. Crystal Lullaby
24. I Can't Make Music
25. Yesterday Once More
26. Bacharach/David Medley: Knowing When To Leave/Make It Easy On Yourself/(There's) Always Something There To Remind Me/I'll Never Fall In Love Again/Walk On By/Do You Know The Way To San Jose
27. Baby It's You
28. Hurting Each Other
29. Reason To Believe
30. Sometimes
31. We've Only Just Begun
32. Top Of The World
33. One Love
34. It's Going To Take Some Time
35. Hideaway
36. Another Song

Hope this is what you were after. I would say that this lp set is quite rare indeed.

I bought the 'Carpenters Collection' at a store in Kansas City that was owned by Ed Asner's brother, Ben, called "Caper's Corner". They specialized in really cool stuff, and I was excited to find it around 1979.
It's a beautiful box, but they didn't use the masters to create it. The sound quality is pretty lame. Very quiet, and obviously not mastered from the original tapes by a long shot.
