Reeeeeeally BAD records... You know, ENTERTAININGLY BAD. So BAD that they're actually laughable!

It didn't do much here either, as a few classmates knew of it (and repeated the lyrics) but it did not have a long shelf life. Our neighborhoods in the area had a large Italian and Polish population so that's probably the only reason it even got mentioned at school. A local Italian produce store used it for their ad jingle with new lyrics. "Joe's pro-duce. Pete's and-a-Frank's." That sort of thing.

Believe it or not, this made the #1 spot on the UK charts back when I was a kid. I loved it at the time because it had such a novelty value but it's cringeworthy watching it back now.

I remember this song getting played on the radio. It was silly and some people that I know absolutely hated it.

I'm pretty sure it did OK in Philly too - I remember hearing it a good bit. But it died a quick death when it started its retreat on the charts.

That's how novelty records behaved. They caught on quick and burned out quicker. Six weeks was an eternity for those records, most of which didn't pop back up as recurrents or gold unless it was Dr. Demento or some morning show's "Dreaded Morning Oldie" segment.

Summer of 1981.

It peaked at #53 on the Billboard Hot 100, but it did really well in some cities---Los Angeles among them, where it hit #1 at KFI, KRTH, KRLA and KIIS-FM.
As a Dr demento fan it remained a frequent visitor to the Funny five a request driven top five favorites list played usually at the end of the show long after everyone else forgot about them I for one thought Shaddup you face was hilarious I was a teen at the time today it brings back fond memories of days I very much miss

Circa '58 & The P-Nut Gallery "Do You Know What Time It Is?" Song went to # 62 (Billboard Hot 100 Chart) in July of 1971. Tommy Nolan is lead singer. (Rare stereo version)

"Santa Baby" goes way back to 1953, first performed by Eartha Kitt. It's still the version to beat. Madonna's wasn't bad but was too "show biz" in comparison (it loses the nuance of the original).
