According to some outlets on the internet, internet radio is in danger of disappearing completely! The reason i've heard of this is that internet radio stations cannot afford the high royalty rates that they are expected to pay to the record labels, publishing companies, artists, etc. If internet radio goes, there probably won't be a lot of alternatives for real, creative musicians/artists to play their music at, and while it's true that there's sattelite radio, more people use the internet.

We also will still listen to same ol' crappy commercial radio, with the millionth boring hip-hop single being thrown at us, squeaky voiced bubblegum singers who can tell you more about their nail polish than about why Sarah Vaughan matters; tired rock bands doing the same tired 'angry young man' rock tunes done better by groups like The Who and The Rolling Stones, and more of the same generic so-called "R&B"love ballads sung by singers who appearantly don't know what true soul is; this is what we have to put up with if internet radio disappears!

Some bands are already complaining.(of course!)Some artists are saying that besides touring to support their cd, the only available alternative is internet radio.Regular radio will NOT play their music because it's too, well complex(euphemisn for creative and innovative) and doesn't fit into radio's format. Imagine that! Imagine saying that about Elvis, The Beatles, Marvin Gaye, The Stones, Stevie Wonder,Aretha Franklin,Al Green, or even Herb and the Brass! Imagine if radio never played these artists! We'd all still be listening to barbershop quartet tunes!

Anyway, here's the address for the website that can give you all far more information than I ever could: www.savenetradio.org
