For me, this is the most exciting female pop vocal interpretation of all time. Fittingly, the song "Canto de Ossanha" is a classic written by Brazilian's Baden Powell and Vinicius de Moraes. For me, in my lifetime the only other female pop vocalist who could generate this kind of musical excitement was Eydie Gorme. Rest in peace ladies--you were both the very best, the likes of which we will never see again.
How well I remember "Sugar Shack". by Jimmy Gilmer and the Fireballs. It was the fall of 1963, I was in 9th grade and all the transistor radios tuned to AM radio at school were playing this song. It proved to be the biggest hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for all of 1963. How quickly things would change--in November of '63 JFK was shot, and by early '64 the Beatles arrived in the USA.
