Per a May 18, 2023 article in the San Diego Union Tribune, YouTube videos In December 2023 will be deleted if they are associated with accounts that have not been used in at least 2 years. The rationale is to protect users from security threats, because accounts not used for two years are more likely to be compromised. Such account users will also lose access to Gmail and all other Google products.
