Song For You : The actual song

Andy Williams had released "A Song For You" as a single just nine months before the Carpenters LP. His single stiffed at #82, but managed to peak at #29 on the Adult Contemporary chart. A Carpenters single of the same song would have been too soon---and too long---Andy's managed to come in at 3:06.

I have a copy. It was made in Australia for the Filipino market. I don’t believe it was released as a single in Australia too. Maybe someone who lives there could verify that for us please? Malaysia was the other kind of outlaw country at the time, They released whatever they wanted as a single against what the rest of the world got. Maybe Hong Kong and Singapore too, 72-73 era. At least according to some of my Billboard Magazines from that era.

In Australia could A Song For You have been released as a radio-only single or as an import from the Phillipines? (Sort of like people in the US could purchase Canadian imports of the 74-78 album.)
