Yep...Roland Orzabal and immediately to his left is Curt Smith. They left Graduate since they didn't like being in a band and having little or no input. They set out into TFF and haven't looked back since. This was Graduate's only album--power pop with a bit of a new-wave hint to it. You can hear Roland's voice cutting through every so often, but while it's decent, it's nothing remarkable. A few catchy tunes though. I think "Elvis Should Play Ska" was the single from this album, may have been a minor UK hit. (Refers to Costello, not Presley.)The guy in the front looks like Mr. Orzabal from Tears For Fears....
I started today with: A&M 25th Anniversary Classics Volume 11 Herb Alpert
In my DJ days, one of my favorite things was to play "Let's Go Crazy" and then near the end (just before the slow jam would start), while the solo guitar is going crazy, I would start playing "Black Cat" by Janet Jackson which has a just-drums intro. I would keep the guitar screaming over the drums and then drop the guitar out at the same time the rest of the band kicked in on "Black Cat." It was uber effective. I can still see the crowds going nuts on that one."Let's Go Crazy"
Spinning
